15 September 2022 at 00:53. The Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, is the cause of the military conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, which represents the problem of a country that has no Territorial Continuity as the case of Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan that Armenia has a territory between Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan including occupied territory, as shown in the map below. Territorial Continuity is critical for holding control of all territories of a country, while a lack of Territorial Continuity will lead to endless conflict between the country that has the separate territory and the country that holds territory in the middle between them as in the case of the triangle, Azerbaijan, Nakhchivan, and Armenia. In case of lack of Territorial Continuity like Nakhchivan, the territory runs as an Autonomous territory and in many cases with the prospect to become an independent country. Hence, the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia is going to last forever with low and high peaks until Nakhchivan will become an independent country or part of Armenia with Territorial Continuity. Nevertheless, in the case of Nakhchivan, the story is more complicated if we look at the regional map of Nakhchivan (see below) which has also borders with Turkey and Iran, still, Turkey in this conflict with Azerbaijan, so Turkey runs frequently war games with Azerbaijan, while Armenia has the backup of the military alliance CSTO that decided to sent troops of CSTO to assist Armenia with this conflict, nonetheless, Iran is not a member of CSTO yet with Armenia in this conflict. Nevertheless, the warm relations between Russia and Turkey helps to reach ceasefire between Azerbaijan and Armenia when the flames fire up, yet without a prospect for ending this conflict.
