16 May 2024 at 10:00. France has 11 Colonies worldwide with an average distance of 9,453 km, but for most of them France calls ‘Departments’ of France. New Caledonia is the farthest Colony with a distance of 16,607 km from France to the ‘New Caledonia Department’. Some of the French colonies wish for Self-Determination, while others are glad to be a ‘Department’ of France. New Caledonia has definitely wish for Self-Determination and to become an independent country, based on the repeated Referendums that took place in New Caledonia over the last years that ended with a very small gap for those who would like to keep being Colony/Department of France. However, from the perspective of the Natives of New Caledonia, France manipulated and going to manipulate the results of the Referendum through intense immigration from France including giving them electoral rights to participate in Referendums and elections in order to change the nature of the results by the Natives of New Caledonia, which can be referred to this tactic in the good scenario as a 'Force Colony’ by France, while in the bad scenario as an Occupation of France. Colonialism in the 21st century can remain only if it based on mutual agreement between the Sovereign State and the Colony. Otherwise, it poses a Risk for political unrest as happened now in New Caledonia, which led France to declare State of Emergency.  A distance of 16,607 km from France to New Caledonia is too far for trying to Force on New Caledonia to be a Colony of France, so France should respect the wish of the Natives of New Caledonia for Self-Determination.
