Blog on Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and International Trade by Dr. Ziva Rozen-Bakher to Identify Risks versus Opportunities at the Country Level
Blog on FDI and International Trade by Alphabetical Order https://www.rozen-bakher.com/search-blog-1
This blog focuses on Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and International Trade in a certain country or territory in terms of how the Location Factors (Political, Economic, Technological, Ecological, Legal and Cultural) and Entry Modes (e.g. M&As, Export and Greenfield) impact the attractiveness - or vice versa - the risks of FDI and International Trade in the certain country or territory, still, keep in mind that each risk may lead to an opportunity for resolving problems via suitable FDI and International Trade, while each opportunity for FDI and International Trade may involve risks.

Cocos (Keeling) Islands, Australia
Distance from Cocos (Keeling) Islands to Australia: 5,833 Km (Straight line distance Capital-to-Capital in Km, Map Developers)
Since the 17th century, Cocos (Keeling) Islands was a British colony, but the British handover it from Singapore to Australia in 1955. In 1984, a referendum took place on Cocos (Keeling) Islands and the majority voted in favor for dependent territory of Australia, rather than Free Association or Independence. Hence, since then, Cocos (Keeling) Islands is an external territory of Australia that runs by an appointed Australian Administrator without self-governance. However, in 2024, at the 40th anniversary to the referendum, a dispute remains between Cocos (Keeling) Islands and Australia over Ownership housing and land, so Cocos (Keeling) Islands has an ambivalent feeling regarding Australia namely, "the ultimate promise made to Cocos Islanders — of equal rights with the mainland — has not been fulfilled." (see below).
