This narrative plays a significant role in the shaping of the new global order by Russia and China, while France and UK have no simple answer for that. Even USA has a problem in Africa and even in Latin America, the backyard of USA, because the USA took for granted its influence in Latin America, while Russia and China give more attention to their allies and potential allies in this region. Perhaps, the map that shows the distinction between the countries that joined the USA sanctions against Russia versus the countries that avoid sanctions, reflects the West's impact at the regional level. The map shows clearly that the West lost its influence in Africa, Latin America, and Oceania. Importantly, we speak about 158 countries that have avoided sanctions against Russia versus 58 West countries that have imposed sanctions against Russia. This quantity gap reflects the global power of Russia. Even the decrease in the number of countries that belong to the Commonwealth of the British Empire tells the problematic story. There is no magic solution to overcome the colony narrative, still, France can try to reinvent itself to get back its influence in Africa or to accept its new destiny as a powerful member of the EU.
