28 April 2022 at 07:50. Today, the State of Israel marks Holocaust remembrance day. Many see the Jewish genocide in WWII as an outcome of fanatical-tyrannical Nazi leadership, but many forget that Hitler and the Nazis party rise to power via a democratic election. The Nazi democratic election in 1932 should remind us that each person in any democracy has the responsibility to think twice before putting the vote for a populist-nationalist candidate, which particularly applies during economic crises.
These days make déjà vu of 1930th. All the ingredients for the WWIII recipe are here. We have a global economic slowdown and recession due to the combination of the Corona pandemic, the Russia-Ukraine military war, and the war sanctions between the West and Russia, which could lead to the rise of dangerous populist-nationalist leaderships and parties worldwide in the years to come, or worse, that they are already with us, resulting in WWIII. Thus, instead of looking at the holocaust camps, we should look at the millions of Germans who waved and saluted Hitler during the general election campaign of 1932.
