At the end of the 19th century, the kingdoms of Wallis and Futuna Islands signed a protection treaty with France. Following that, at the end of WWI, France annexed the Wallis and Futuna Islands, which were run under the French colony of New Caledonia. However, in the start of 1960th, Wallis and Futuna Islands became an independent French colony under the status of French Overseas Territory, still, Wallis and Futuna Islands have three kingdoms that each of them run separately. Currently, Wallis and Futuna Islands has the status of Overseas Collectivity of France namely, the President of France is the Head of State of Wallis and Futuna Islands that represented by the Administrator Superior, which appointed by President of France. Besides, Wallis and Futuna Islands have a local government that headed by the President of the elected Territorial Assembly, still, the three kings of Wallis and Futuna Islands serve in the local council.
